The 2.7 K Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) radiation is expected to be
slightly polarized, at a level of about 1 part in a million of its nearly
uniform intensity. Why would anyone try to search for such a tiny signal?
I will describe what we can hope to learn about cosmology from
measurements of CMB polarization. I will also discuss how these
measurements are made and outline the prospects for the future.
Tuesday, October 8th at 4:00 p.m.
Seminar is scheduled to be held in F235 of
the Tech Building, due to current renovations at Dearborn Observatory.
