Comets and Asteroids Around Other Stars

Prof. Michael Jura

Similar to our own Solar System, extrasolar planetary systems may have families of 1-1000 km diameter solid bodies.  Recent work on the presence of such objects around nearby stars is presented.  Current or planned telescopes will enable us to search for individual comets and evolved oceans around other stars.  Remarkably, it may be possible to extend these techniques to discover advanced technological civilizations.
