Plans for the low frequency space-based gravitational-wave
detector LISA are maturing rapidly in Europe and the United States. Some of
the most exciting sources for this detector come from events that involve
massive black holes. In this talk, I will briefly describe the LISA detector,
contrasting it to the ground-based interferometers that are currently
beginning operations, and then discuss massive black hole sources.
