Join us as we participate in 100 Hours of Astronomy, the worldwide celebration of The International Year of Astronomy. There is no charge for this event. Please call the Astronomy Department at (847) 491-7650 for more information.

Activities we are planning include:

  • Telescope viewing of Saturn and the Moon (weather permitting)
  • Live webcasts of 100 Hours of Astronomy events from around the world
  • Informal presentations by Northwestern's astronomers
  • Opportunities to have your astronomy questions answered

All visitors should note the following information: the dome is neither heated nor air-conditioned. Please dress appropriately. Our event will be held “rain or shine.”

Unfortunately, the Dearborn is NOT ADA-accessible. Several staircases must be climbed in order to reach the telescope.

How to Find Us

Dearborn Observatory can be a little tough to find, we are located behind Garrett Seminary on the Evanston Campus of Northwestern University. Parking is available in the lot just to the south of Garrett Seminary on the lake side of Sheridan Road.
